An update to the Patch Management utilities has been released this week, defining additional schedule codes and an additional change window from mid-afternoon to early evening for server patching. New views and system policies are available upon request, and will be included in all future Core Automation deployments.
There are now three change windows - Midnight to 6 AM, 7 AM to 1 PM, and 2 PM to 10 PM. Patch installations start 30 minutes after the change window starts, continue on 30 minute intervals until 90 minutes before the change window closes. As before, servers reboot, then install updates, and reboot again if necessary. Our standard patch schedules continue to be Saturdays - Midnight to 6 AM, Sundays - 7 AM to 1 PM, and select times on Wednesdays. The new patch codes allow the MSP to create their own server patch schedules for any day of the week with up to 35 unique schedules per day.
Customers wishing to take advantage of the new schedules must request the update. Updates to existing configurations require removal of Sunday and Wednesday schedule components (views, policies) before installing the update.
